Change Nine Elms Hotel Plans. Stop Dominvs Group from overwhelming our community.

The Issue

There is a major new Proposed Development which will cause chaos for all of our local community in and around Embassy Gardens and the US Embassy, and we need your help...

Dominvs Group intends to build a dual-branded hotel on the land between Ponton Road and Nine Elms Lane. They plan for one of the buildings to have a height of 10 floors and the other to be 16 floors. The Proposed Development (Application 2020/2047) breaches current planning and Council policies.

Your help is needed to stop this from happening.

Having reviewed with both planning and legal experts, it is explicitly clear that this Proposed Development will cause a significantly detrimental impact on our local community.

In simple terms, their proposal will cause an unacceptable adverse impact on our community concerning:

1. Highway safety;

2. Traffic generation, noise and disturbance resulting from use;

3. Height, layout and density of the building;

4. Loss of light and overshadowing;

5. Overlooking / and significant loss of privacy.

Amongst many other issues...

Conduct: Dominvs Group are circulating PR materials to certain blocks in our neighbourhood in an attempt to divert attention away from the real impact, whilst also hosting closed webinars where questions are hidden from attendees, so their PR company controls the dialogue to hide any questions about the community impact.

Many residents continue to be shocked at the way this has been conducted. Application 2020/2047 was registered on 22nd July 2020, in the middle of the summer holidays, when many residents are on annual leave, perhaps as a strategic move to mitigate formal opposition from neighbours.

Action our community will take:  After consulting with neighbours in the surrounding area and relevant planning and legal professionals, it is explicitly clear for the aforementioned reasons that it will negatively impact all of us in the neighbourhood. It is in our community’s interest to take whatever legal steps necessary to ensure that this Proposed Development be rejected, and preparations are already in progress.

Rushing proposals through in the way that Dominvs Group have, will not prevent residents and neighbours from seeking an injunction and/or any other civil proceedings, to fully enforce and protect the rights of our community.

The way forward for Dominvs: Either the existing consented development should remain without modification, or if a new scheme is proposed then:

i) both buildings be low-rise, not taller than the existing planning consent of 11 floors with a reasonable amount due to be 2 stories, and of the same density to the consented scheme; and

ii) the architecture be stepped down towards Ponton Road, and not the river.

This is non-negotiable.

What you can do if you are affected: Please sign this petition, which will inform Dominvs Group and Wandsworth Council of the scale of the objections against their Proposed Development. We insist please that you only sign this if you are an affected neighbour and wish to object.

Neighbours from across our community are coming together to fight this, so if you are affected, please join us to help support what is fair, just and equitable for our community.
